A TRAIL ALONG THE SOUTH FORK, SMITH RIVER There are numerous trails leading to the forks of the river just a short drive up 199 from the Beach House rental. This picture shows the trail up to a public parking spot along the South Fork. This fork is a major spawning tributary to the Smith River and runs down a narrow canyon from the east. The drive is spectacular if narrow and winding. The area has much interesting fauna including the Redwood Forest. The Jedediah Smith Park entrance is nearby and offers camping, hiking, fishing and generally enjoying the quiet beaty of the Redwoods.
