FLY
FISHERMAN FIGHTS A BIG CHINOOK SALMON ON A FLYROD From the Mouth of the Smith River, upriver to the Mouth of Rowdy Creek, anglers of all kinds catch Salmon from a variety of boat sizes and types, as well as the shore certain beaches. This experienced fly-rodder is being towed around The Sand Hole, near the Mouth, by a fish in the forty-pound class. When using light fly tackle, these big fish can rarely be landed without following them some distance in a boat. There is presently a one-fish limit on the Smith and only lures and flies are legal before November 1. There is also a barbless hook restriction, year around. Most of the fish landed by fly-fishers are released, anyway, and some never keep one during the entire season. Many other angler types practice conservation, as well. |
