ROGUE RIVER FLY FISHING A fly fisher sets the hook on a fall run Steelhead in the beautiful Rogue River. An hour's drive north on US 101 from the Battery Point Beach House, leads to Gold Beach where the Rogue enters the Pacific. It is a great river for fishing boasting a May Spring Run of Chinook Salmon and a Summer-Fall run that begins in August. Steelhead can be taken in the lower river as early as July and can be caught nearly year-round at some point along on this great fishery which winds all the way from Central Oregon where it goes by Medford and Grant's Pass. The coastal drive to Gold Beach is worth it for the beauty of the Oregon Coast and the River, alone. Daily Jet Boat cruises up the river are available. There are campgrounds all along the South Bank Road of the River.
