These boats have begun to load their pots, anxious for the season to open so they can fish.  This fleet actually catches four times the take of the entire San Francisco Bay fleet, where Dungeness Crabs are famous.  Most of the local catch is frozen for that market while the Bay Area sells primarily to the fresh market.  Don’t worry, if you’re in the area in season staying at the Crescent City Vacation Rental, you’ll be able to get fresh crab at markets or restaurants.
