SUNRISE AT BATTERY POINT

This spectacular sunrise was photographed in an early December. The Battery Point Light House can be seen from the view deck of our Crescent City Beach Rental and every sunrise is different. The afternoon sun also highlights it and the view from the deck of the Battery Point Beach House out to sea also features amazing sunsets; you can actually watch the sun disappear behind the horizon. The old seaman's tale, "Red at night, sailor's delight; red in the morning, sailor's warning!" actually may have some merit on the east coast but not so much here. Dust and smoke in the sky are responsible for coloring the twilight as the sun's rays angle through the lower altitude air filtered by winds stirring up these impurities.
